The course also covers planning and risk assessment and includes practical rigging scenarios which cover the performance criteria, range statement and knowledge requirements of national standards of competence. The successful completion of this programme will provide valuable evidence towards a competence qualification. OVERVIEW / This course is designed to introduce delegates to the principles and equipment involved in modern working at height systems.
In the UK, in the 5-year period from 1996 to 2001, we have suffered 400 deaths and 28,000 major injuries as a result of falls from a height. Many of these accidents could have been avoided through awareness training and appropriate equipment selection.
This course is the foundation for a 3-part scheme, the elements of which can either be taken separately or timed to run consecutively.

This module is also a pre-requirement for those wishing to progress to the more practical elements of modules 2 and 3. STRUCTURE / This classroom-based course consists of lectures and practical demonstrations. Delegates will be assessed by means of a written paper.
